It is the most wonderful time of the year! There are so many fun things to do at Christmas time around the city. You can find an activity that is perfect for families, friends and couples who want to enjoy the holiday goings-on and embrace that festive spirit. From outdoor holiday light displays to indoor fun, there is lots to see at Christmas time in Salt Lake.
Festival of Trees
The annual Festival of Trees, produced by the Intermountain Foundation and benefiting Primary Children’s Hospital, is celebrating its 51st anniversary this is the first year that the event will be the first-ever live broadcast celebration. You will be able to purchase on the virtual shops, or bidding online on special auction items, every contribution benefits the kids at Intermountain Healthcare’s Primary Children’s Hospital.
The Santa Shack in Sugar House
Yes! Santa will be in his Sugar House Shack in December for socially distant visits beginning November 28! Visits are outdoors and masks are required. Children of all ages can visit Santa in his festive shack this season. The shack is open Monday through Friday from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm and on Saturdays from 11am-7 pm. Visiting Santa to tell the jolly fella what you want for Christmas is free, there are photo packages available for purchase.

Zoo Lights
Thanks to a generous grant funded by the Utah Legislature through the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, this year’s ZooLights will be FREE to the public! With over 200 animal displays, all lit in holiday glow, you can meander around the zoo with a hot cup of chocolate and take in all the sights. New this year are 10 life-size animal-shaped lanterns that are sure to be impressive. And don’t forget to visit Santa at his station.
Lights at Temple Square
Christmas lights are a glow on the grounds covering 35 acres of Temple Square. Decorations are hung throughout, along with nativity scenes placed along the way.

Christmas in Color
Load the family up and experience a synchronized light display from the warmth of your car. Set to classic holiday music favorites, you’ll gaze upon dancing snowman, giant candy canes, and tunnels of flickering lights.

The Grand America Holiday Stroll
Due to physical distancing and capacity control guidelines, the 2020 holiday stroll will be exclusively for overnight hotel guests and patrons of the restaurants and The Grand Spa. The Windows at The Grand America will take you on a storybook journey set to be a memorable holiday experience for hotel, restaurant, and spa guests.
